I’m amazed that people remained smart here…
I just saw this article about a satanist who was assaulted because of his religion. His assaulters are being charged with a hate crime. As soon as I saw the article, I started looking around for the most biased article I could find that said something along the lines of “it’s a hate crime if they attack something I like, but if it’s some satanist it’s almost an act of goodwill!” but I couldn’t find anything like that. It seems most reporters at least are accepting that under hate crime legislation, satanism is just as protected as christianity, hinduism, or islam. In fact, the only person speaking out is Joseph Seehusen of the Libertarian Party. In this article he seems a bit biased, but it seems that he’s trying to direct people’s biased anger toward the legislation itself to get it repealed.
