ReusableBags.com

reusable bags thumbnail Reusable Bags is an e-commerce site targeting environmentally friendly products. I did general development work updating parts of the storefront and backend reporting system, improved the integration between the product pages and the youtube api, and fixed numerous bugs from their legacy osCommerce code. I also conceived of and implemented a significant new feature; a product recommender using an association rule learning mechanism. I used PHP, Python, MySQL, HTML, CSS, jQuery, and JSON for these features.

Espin.com

espin thumbnail Espin.com is a social networking site featuring quizzes, games, and other features that are targeted at teenagers. I developed a new feature where users can submit and vote on photos in various categories and view the most popular ones. I also developed a widget that displays a list of site features the user viewing it has not yet explored in order to give them more to do on the site and reduce bounce rate. I used PHP, MySQL, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, JSON, and Memcached for these features.

IIT Institute of Design

connectid thumbnail The Institute of Design is a graduate school under Illinois Institute of Technology. They host a number of events throughout the year and have a large list of students, alumni, and other interested persons to whom they market those events. I was hired to develop an application to manage their contact list, the messages they send out and who they send them to, and registration for their events. I used Python, Django, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript (Dojo) on this project. I was responsible for the requirements gathering and software design process on this project as well.

Chicago LUG

chicagolug thumbnail The Chicago Linux Users Group has a Google Calendar that lists their events and is easier to update than the front page of their website. Therefore I used the GData API and integrated the calendar into their web site using JavaScript.

Ron May Facts
